Kennett’s Favorite Son

May 20, 2009

and most likely oldest, Jack Curtin, has spread his love with a mention of the Conn-o-session in his Eastern PA write up in the April/May issue of Mid-Atlantic Brewing News. Much thanks, Jack.

It seems like a good time to list the current breweries that have committed for the session.

Victory, Troegs, Clipper City, Stoudt’s, SlyFox, Yards, Erie Brewing Co., River Horse, RoyPitz, Longtrail, Rogue, and Ithaca Brewing are all in.

12 participants is a pretty good start and since this is a first time and maybe only a one time deal for the Connoisseur I’ve asked (some will say begged) for unparalleled imagination and creativity.

As a reminder, tickets go on sale Monday, June 1st for both the Conn-o-session and regular fest.

Hey breweries, I want you

April 24, 2009

to attend the Kennett Brewfest. At least those of you that have never done so before. Especially Pennsylvania breweries and brewpubs.uncle_sam_pointing_finger

I’ve noticed a recent trend of the proliferation of distributor only supplied beers to many festivals. Don’t get me wrong, many of these beers are great and we get them as well. The reality is that now most all of the beers come through the distribution channel to an event.

When we started our fest 12 years ago we dealt with owners and brewers. Many brought their beer in beat up old vans, some had makeshift signage. It was personal and cool. It was also all draft beer and we love that! Well guess what? There are plenty of you out there and I want you at Kennett.

So what do you say One Guy, Bullfrog, Bavarian Barbarian, East End, Selins Grove, Springhouse, Swashbuckler, Earth bread + Brewery, Nodding Head, North Country, Otto’s, Red Star, Church Brew Works, Union Barrel Works, Philadelphia Brewing, Blue Canoe ? You will have a great time with great people.

I miss old friends as well that we haven’t seen in a few years for whatever reason. Appalachian, Rock Bottom K of P, Manayunk, Brewer’s Art, Iron Hill.

This is my dream, a guy can dream can’t he?

Greetings from the Kennett brewfest

April 20, 2009

Since our webpage, http://www.kennettbrewfest.com   is updated only so often I thought this would be a great way to keep the beer geekdom (said lovingly) informed as to our event information, right down to the smallest details.

And now for something completely different…..

If you didn’t know, this years Connoisseur session will be known as the Conn-o-session. We will be serving all session strength beers. This is a huge departure for us but pretty cool if I must say so. Where else can you enjoy a wide variety of 16 to 18 well crafted, tasty, low alcohol beers at a festival without buying a plane ticket?  The best part is that the brewer’s I’ve spoken to love the idea. If they love it hopefully you will all benefit. So far 9 breweries have committed to attend with more to follow.

Tickets for this year’s fest go on sale June 1st. As always, the Conn-o-session will be limited to 300.  Last years event was very comfortable with the increased space. Line length was very manageable and I was rather pleased so that will be the attendance model we follow this year.  You should expect no ticket availability the day of the event.

So here I am, a blogger. I never woulda thunk it.

Can’t let Bryson and Curtin have all the fun.
